George A. Thornton grew up among family who were for the most part hard working, unionized factory workers. His father was a steelworker.
George very early showed a natural aptitude for academic pursuits, and was able to attend college and law school in the Ivy League (Columbia and Penn), graduating with honors. His Multistate Bar Examination grade was among the highest ever recorded on that exam.
In 1978 George relocated to Seattle, Washington and took a job as a public defender, where he gained extensive trial experience. He demonstrated natural ability with juries and was successful in eighty percent of his cases. That record of success resulted in an invitation to join the predecessor of this law firm in 1982.He rose to partnership in 1987 and became managing partner in 1998.
George has achieved recognition in the legal community for his talents; he has been rated AV by Martindale Hubbell for almost two decades, and he has been identified as a Super lawyer by Washington Law and Politics Magazine. His record of success at trial has continued throughout his practice.
George is an avid cyclist, having successfully completed multiple one-day STP, RAMROD and Randonneur events. He currently rides Parlee Carbon, Litespeed Ti, and Erickson steel frames. George is a member of Cascade and Redmond Cycling Clubs, is a past President of the Redmond Cycling Club, and is the current Director of the RAMROD bicycle ride (2007 to present). In addition, he has been the RAMROD Safety Director for more than ten years.
George has represented numerous bicyclists involved in accidents with motor vehicles.

Mark C. Mostul has extensive litigation experience in state and federal courts handling a variety of claims, including numerous that resulted in trials to verdict.
Mr. Mostul grew up in small towns in the Mid-West, graduating from high school in Menomonie, Wisconsin and Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota. He was a National Merit Scholar, a member of several honor societies, participated in numerous sports and sang in their choirs.
Mr. Mostul was a law clerk/legal intern at Winston & Cashatt in Spokane, Washington while he attended Gonzaga Law School. After law school, he initially practiced with Eisele & Jackson, in Couer d’Alene, Idaho, primarily doing employment, product liability and negligence litigation matters.
Mark moved to Seattle, Washington in the late 1980s and practiced with Evans, Craven & Lackie doing personal injury, negligence and product liability litigation. When ECL closed its Seattle office, Mr. Mostul practiced with Skellenger Bender, et al., where he primarily did personal injury, negligence, products liability and appellate matters.
Mark then joined Kroschel Gibson (s/k/a Gibson Kinerk) where his practice solely involved representing the Burlington Northern Railroad Company (and its successor the Burlington Northern & Santa Fe Railway Company) for about nine years. In 2004, he joined the Seattle office of the firm that subsequently became Thornton Mostul, PLLC in 2007.

Laurie Colman grew up in New Jersey. She moved to Washington and completed her undergraduate degree at Western Washington University in Bellingham, Washington. She earned her law degree from Seattle University School of Law (formerly University of Puget Sound). After school, Laurie worked in the public sector. Following a year working for a Superior Court judge, she worked as a public defender in Tacoma, WA. Next she became an assistant prosecutor for the City of Seattle. Since 1997 she has been in private practice representing injured persons. She is admitted to the Washington State Bar Association and is admitted to appear in the Western District and Eastern District of federal court in Washington.

Thomas “Tom” H. Baker, Field Representative, joined the staff of Thornton Mostul after a 39 year career with UPRR, employed as an apprentice Signalman, Train/Yardman and Engineman. He is a former member of the BLET, as well as BRS, UTU and BRT. Tom is also a US Marine Corp veteran. Tom and his wife, Patty, reside in Spokane, Washington.

Lee Frazier, Field Representative, joined Thornton Mostul in 2008, after twenty-five (25) years with Union Pacific Railroad. In addition to craftwork as a Switchman and Conductor, he worked extensively throughout the UPRR system as an instructor, providing employee training in a diverse range of subjects, including information technology and the training of new-hire operating employees.

Larry D. “Nick” Nicholes, Investigator, joined Thornton Mostul in 2009 after an accomplished career of more than two decades as Legal Investigator with two prominent FELA law firms. Prior to his legal career, Nick worked as Switchman, Conductor, and Yardmaster with the former Southern Pacific Railroad, and is a longtime member of the United Transportation Union.

Rosalyn Nicholes was born and raised in South Florida. She attended Florida International University where she obtained a degree in Education. After marrying her husband Nick, she assisted him in the preparation and investigation of FELA cases. Rosalyn has continued to assist Rails and other accident victims since his retirement. Rosalyn and Nick reside in Upland, California with their Beagles, Belle and Breanna.
